Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: Book Review
Americanah is by far the best book that I’ve had the pleasure of reading this year. It follows a young Nigerian couple, Ifemelu and Obinze, through their experience as immigrants, Ifemelu in America and Obinze in Britain. Both of them grapple with the realities of racism, something that they never really thought about in Nigeria. When they both end up back in Nigeria years later, their lives are completely uprooted and overturned by their reunion. Modern, thought-provoking, funny at times and heartbreaking at others, Americanah has everything.
